Childhood and Personal Life

Cloey Uddenberg grew up watching many Toronto FC games as a kid, while growing up in Richmond Hill (north of Toronto). In her youth, she played for the Oak Ridges SC and the Aurora Stingers. As mentioned in the Taking Space with Baillie Norville podcast, Uddenberg also did dancing and gymnastics.
Uddenberg has also played with the youth teams of Saint Kitts and Nevis U17 and U20 teams.

Also, Uddenberg credits her success as a professional athlete to her time growing up in the Catholic elementary and high schools, according to Luke Mandato of the Catholic Register:

“ I think what my time there really taught me was the values of faith, family and connections with people. The York Catholic District School Board showed me that under all of the education, extracurriculars, sports, and clubs is something bigger, and that is your faith in God,” Uddenberg said.

Uddenberg is also known for her soccer training with the 84 Soccer Training. To describe what 84 Soccer Training is about, this is what the website said about it (Source: 84 Soccer Training Website):

“We teach and develop players through camps, one-to-one training, and small group training. These environments allow players to learn specific skills and have fun. We teach and develop skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, awareness, combination play, and attacking/defending abilities. We also focus on agility, fun fitness, and coaching the players to strengthen their mindsets. We aim to provide players with feedback and corrections so players can develop their skills.”

University Career (2021-24)

Guelph Gryphons (2021-22, Guelph University)

Cloey Uddenberg made her mark very early on with the Guelph Gryphons. In that same year, she earned second-team all-Canadian honours and was the second Gryphon ever to be named OUA MVP. She was with the team from 2021-22 and has made her mark with the team.

Uddenberg also played one year with the South Alabama Jaguars (South Alabama University, 2023) and the Purdue Boilermakers (Purdue University, 2024). This is what she said about what playing at the university level did to her game, according to the AFC Toronto YouTube Account:

“Competing at the university level pushed me to grow both on and off the field.”

Club Career

Aurora FC (2017-19)

Uddenberg said this about playing with Aurora FC (Source: Signa Butler of CBC News):

“For me, it goes beyond having my friends and family being able to watch me play,” Uddenberg told CBC Sports.

In her time with Aurora FC, she scored two goals in 24 appearances. She would play with Guelph Union for five games (scored one goal) before making her mark with the Simcoe County Rovers, where she made a name for herself.

Simcoe County Rovers (2022-24)

At the Simcoe County Rovers, Uddenberg accomplished the 2023 League1 Ontario Midfielder of the Year with Simcoe Rovers FC and back-to-back All-Star honours, according to the Simcoe County Rovers FC.

In the same Simcoe County Rovers FC article, this is what Uddenberg said about what it meant for her as she has taken the next level in her game with AFC Toronto:

“The Simcoe County Rovers helped shape me into the person and player I am today. They helped me prepare for the next level. The club not only offered me an opportunity to play at a competitive level but also to build a community around soccer. Gamedays weren’t just about playing; Rovers allowed me to connect with the community and give back to the youth.”

The captain of the Rovers, Uddenberg, has made a successful jump to the Rovers. She also made quite the impression at her former club, as this is what Simcoe County Rovers COO and President of Barrie Soccer, Will Devellis said about Uddenberg in the Simcoe County Rovers FC article for the Barrie 360:

“We are incredibly proud of our Captain Cloey Uddenberg,” said Devellis. “From day one in a Rovers jersey, she has been nothing but a professional on and off the field. Cloey’s signing a pro contract with the new women’s Northern Super League in Canada is no surprise to anyone. Her commitment to the game has been exceptional.

AFC Toronto (2025-Present)

Uddenberg was AFC Toronto’s fourth player and third local player from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). AFC Toronto’s head coach, Marko Milanovic, said this about her when signing the player to the club, according to Signa Butler of CBC News:

“Cloey has excelled at mastering the fundamentals, an often underrated yet essential quality in professional football,” said Marko Milanović, head coach of AFC Toronto. “Her versatility and relentless work ethic will elevate our team’s performance, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.”

Uddenberg scored her first-ever goal in the NSL on July 10 to secure a 3-0 win over their provincial rivals, the Ottawa Rapid FC. As seen in the video, everyone was happy for her, as her head coach, Milanovic, said this, according to AFC Toronto:

“Cloey played the first two games of the season and hasn’t seen a minute since, but if you were in our environment every day, you’d never know that. She does absolutely everything right. These players will tell you the same: the way she trains, takes care of her body, and puts in extra work daily is incredible.”

Uddenberg would continue that success as she scored two goals for her club, with the other goal coming on October 4 at McMahon Stadium against the Calgary Wild FC. It ended up being the game-winning goal, as AFC Toronto won that game 2-1. As a result of that game, Uddenberg earned the Rookie of the Week award.

Saint Kitts and Nevis (2018-Present)

Before talking about her time with Saint Kitts and Nevis, it is important to note how Cloey Uddenberg and her two sisters got involved in playing for the national team. All three sisters are eligible because of their paternal grandparents, as Uddenberg said, this:

“We reached out to the Saint Kitts and Nevis Football Club, and we just sent them a whole bunch of videos back at home, and look, this is my type of thing, and they kind of contacted us from there.”

Cloey Uddenberg and her two sisters, Carley Uddenberg (older) and Kayla Uddenberg (younger), currently play for the national team.

Cloey has excelled with the national team. She has scored at least eight goals for her national team, including hat-tricks against Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda.
